YouTube annotations can be fun and informative, but sometimes you may want to disable them when embedding a video onto your website. Thankfully it’s pretty simple. All you need to do is add the following parameter to the embed code:
&iv_load_policy=3
Here is what the embed code will look like when successfully added:
<object width=”425″ height=”344″><param name=”movie” value=”http://www.youtube.com/v/uy_fmFsRuOo&hl=en&fs=1&iv_load_policy=3“></param><param name=”allowFullScreen” value=”true”></param><param name=”allowscriptaccess” value=”always”></param><embed src=”http://www.youtube.com/v/uy_fmFsRuOo&hl=en&fs=1&iv_load_policy=3” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” allowscriptaccess=”always” allowfullscreen=”true” width=”425″ height=”344″></embed></object>
There you have it. Simply add the paramater to both of the youtube URLs in the code, and when visitors watch the video on your site it will play without annotations. Keep in mind that this will disable annotations by default, but viewers can still enable them through the video player.
Let me know if you have any questions on getting this to work on your site !
