Playlists let you organize and share video in cool new ways on YouTube, so stop not knowing how to create them by watching this tutorial.
Instead of having your favorite videos scattered all over YouTube, put em in a playlist! You can create playlists using your videos, someone elses videos, or a combo of the two. You can even add your own commentary to the videos you add.
Playlists are great for a couple of different reasons.
- They help you keep videos organized on YouTube
- They can increase views by encouraging viewers to watch more than one video
- They can increase exposure since playlists can appear in YouTube search results
Create a playlist
You can create a playlist on a video watch page or in your video manager. From a video watch page just click the “add to” button
and you can add a video to an existing playlist or create a new one by typing the name of your playlist at the bottom of the list.
You can also add videos to a playlist from your video manager. Just select the videos you want to add and hit the ‘add to’ button.
Edit Your Playlists
You can change the title and description of your playlist by clicking on them. If you want your playlists to appear in search results make sure to incorporate relevant keywords and don’t give them too general of a title.
Clicking on the share button give you social media links and the direct URL to your playlist. This is also where you can find the embed code if you want place you playlist on your website.
Under settings you can change the privacy of your playlist or turn your playlist into a series playlist. This option is only available if the videos in your playlist aren’t in another playlist. If you have a 5 part series of videos, check this box and the playlist will be more prominent on video watch pages.
As you hover over videos you’ll see a bar on the left that lets you drag a video into a different position. You’ll also see buttons to remove or edit the video on the right. Here you have another way to move videos around, the ability to set the playlist’s thumbnail, and the ability to trim the start and end times of a video in your playlist. Once you click you simply drag the start and end points where you want them and click save.
You can also feature playlists on your YouTube channel in some pretty cool ways, so be sure to check out our How to Edit Your YouTube Channel tutorial to learn more about that!
