Make Videos

I know it’s kind of basic, but if you don’t have videos don’t expect anyone to notice your channel. Focus first on finding your niche, creating a content schedule, and uploading quality videos. Don’t even think of reaching out to other YouTubers until you have you’ve amassed some sort of audience on your own.

Getting a popular YouTuber to check out your channel isn’t going to automatically turn you into a celebrity. And if you don’t have any content (or low quality content) they certainly won’t come back.

Don’t Be Annoying

When was the last time you subscribed to a YouTube channel because of some random YouTube message? For me the answer is never. Spamming people’s inbox with your video doesn’t work so just quit it. I almost always mark these messages as spam, and most popular YouTubers get so many spam messages they don’t even check their inbox anymore.

The same thing goes for YouTube comments. Don’t use the comments section as a way to beg for views or subscribers, instead…

Leave Good Comments

If you want a YouTuber to notice you and your channel, try watching their videos and leaving fun, insightful comments. Don’t do it all in one day, but if you become a contributing member of their viewer community that YouTuber may in fact check out your channel to see where all this coolness is coming from.

Many YouTubers give viewers very specific ways to participate in their videos, so try playing by their rules. Look for opportunities to answer questions, ask questions, or provide relevant information. This entire post/video sprouted from a viewer comment on one of my videos.

Try a Shoutout

Most popular YouTubers monitor their brand and even have Google alerts set up for when people mention them. If you can find a cool or fun way to incorporate a YouTuber into one of your videos, they may notice it.

YouTuber JustinTeohOfficial mentioned and linked to me in one of his videos. Not only did I get a kick out if it, I ended up subscribing to the dude.
